Having Regulations On Reality T.V. - 1083 Words

There has always been controversy as to whether there should be regulations on reality tv shows or not It would be a positive gesture to hold regulations on reality tv. Although having regulations on reality tv limits violence, decreases bad ratings, and makes the show more family oriented, it can make the show less intriguing because it wouldn’t be as melodramatic, it wouldn’t be real if it had rules, and it limits the freedom of the people on the show. According to Shannon Kelly, reality television has the worst reputation of any type of television programming. Reality tv shows that use profanity and violence are only encouraging kids to be like them. Offensive material on tv has increased by 78% since 2003 and 64% of parents with one child between the ages of two and seventeen believed media in general was getting too inappropriate for their families. Many parents say that tv is no longer family oriented and have to keep an eye out for their children on what they watch. Analyzing Personal Conflict Management Style Robert Jeans COM/330 January 23, 2012 David Bonilla Analyzing Personal Conflict Management Style Conflict management is the detriment of many teams or groups in accomplishing its goals. This is because most people do not understand the different conflict styles and how to apply the rules and principles associated with the style you may be dealing with. In this paper I will analyze three of the five management styles discussed in the textbook Communication in Small Groups. Avoidance and competition are two styles that I believe have the greatest effect on hindering a group or team from accomplishing its goals. This common belief among users of this style drives them to search for answers using all of the tools at the team’s disposal. The different dynamics of the team become assets. They see the differences that distinguish the members of the team as points of view are respected and viewed objectively. Differences like a male versus a female’s perspective, race, culture, and even social or economic status are viewpoints that give all in the team a bigger picture of the different issues they may need to consider when coming to a conclusion about how best to achieve their goal. Though this style is thought of as the best route for teams to use, it is also one of the most difficult. A person cannot be judgmental and must be sure not to take anything said personally. This is something that most if not all of the team members must have an awareness of. Advantages: One of the most important advantages that the team would have is that there is a greater understanding between the managing team which will then collaborate easily and conveniently amongst itself. Also there may be proper rules and norms which would be clearly established. This may make simple tasks more easily and quickly to being carried out. For instance, the technical department head would have a direct contact with the head of marketing and therefore any problem with the product or changes needed could be easily communicated. Apart form this; working with such a cooperative team would make work less tiring and annoying. Rather it would make working more motivating. It is also likely that the team would be willing to take up more challenging tasks and to fulfill them with due hard work especially because they are so motivated and like working together as a team (Moore, 2004). Disadvantages: However, there may be a number of problems associated with having a strong collaborating team. One of it may be the fact that any outsider may feel it to being very difficult with adjusting with the team. Some of the measures used for on the job training includes, coaching the employees so that the competitiveness is increased (Armstrong, 2001). The other training method is the mentoring of the employee, which is adopted for the person who is of the manager background. The other option is the rotation of the job where the employees are given various kind of training by changing the jobs assigned to them. In case of the off the job training methods, the training is given separate from the job and the person is given written and assigned materials. The concentration of these training methods is to improve the learning of the person rather than giving him practical training (COX, 2000). The options that is available for off the job training methods is lecture and conferences, vestibule training is also used in many cases by creating a prototype environment. Various simulation exercises are also used in the case of off the job trainings to create the rich learning experience. Motivation by Managers for Training Employees Training should be done in a systematic manner so that the objectives of the organizations are achieved (Achor Achor, 2000). The preconditions of learning in case product development is the clear understanding of the goals that are to be achieved, and the commitment of the project teams that are involved in the product development (Robert, 1989). In case of a company that has perishable products, it is important the employees are motivated so that the supply chain of such products remains strong and the goods are transported to the destination without significant delays in the supply at goods to the destination. The work environment should be safe and secure and the employee should be recognized for the work they do.
